Damn... that's just one of those things that would haunt me forever as an engineer on the shuttle project... with a little thought, the crew module in both disasters could have been utilized as an emergency pod, and survived what destroyed the shuttle around it.

We've lost some brave people, and they may not have even realized how brave they were being.
